Cycle Canada's Erie Shores

CycleCanada's Erie Shores bicycle Tour

Cycle Canada's Erie Shores is a week-long cycle trip travelling from Windsor, Ontario to Niagara Falls, Ontario. It is held in July or August each year.

The first annual Erie Shores ride took place in the year 2000. The Erie Shores route and tour were developed by Bud Jorgensen. Bud is an avid recreational cyclist and advocate and principal of Cycle Canada, The Veloforce Corporation. Cycle Canada is a unique company that is an innovator in creating bicycle tours and routes thoughout Canada.

The Erie Shores route takes you away from the bustle of a busy daily life. Our route travels mainly through long-established farming areas and along the northern shore-line of Lake Erie. The terrain on this tour is gentle, it is rated as a 1 Rating on Cycle Canada's scale for its tours.

Lake Erie is the shallowest of the Great Lakes. For that reason it is the warmest. The region can be very hot in summer and cyclists on this tour will enjoy stops by a beach to swim or wade.

The region we travel through is an old alluvial plain and the terrain is mainly flat. You will find some hill climbing on the middle part of the route, but there are only a couple of serious hills on the whole trip. We travel from west to east, which is the direction of prevailing winds.

Participants can choose from an indoor or camping option. The camping option is 4 nights camping and 2 nights indoors and the indoor option is 6 nights indoor accommodation.
