Rob
puts on the finishing touches after the rest of the
gang has sorted, scrubbed and bleached the rubber equipment.
All equipment is scrubbed,
bleached and sorted prior to the season. Equipment gets hard use and
a percentage needs replacing each year.
We source most of our products
from industrial suppliers.
But also we keep an eye out for new products
at local retail outlets.
One example this year were the square water
jugs now available at Canadian Tire.
These can be stacked, which is
a great feature when space is tight.
On Tour du Canada, riders are
responsible for food preparation.
We often get talented and demanding
chefs on this trip. To get them started we provide an broad variety
of herbs and spices.
Each year the spice box is returned with some new
exotic flavourings.
When cooking for 25 hungry
cyclists we need very large quanities of all foods.
It is estimated
that cyclists on this ride consume a minimum of 6,000 calories a day.
Variety becomes important when consuming so much food.
