Summer Positions with Cycle Canada

We currently have an opening for an individual to support either the Cycle Canada Series or Tour du Canada. The ability to drive a van or pickup and 16ft trailer is a requirement of both positions. Please read the job descriptions below.

Cycle Canada, The Veloforce Corporation is a Canadian company that has been conducting cycling tours throughout Canada since 1988. Our business is unique and is expanding every year.

Each year, during the summer months, we employ focussed, active people to assist us with our tours. The successful candidates assist with our schedule of cycling events supporting bicycle tour groups that travel throughout Canada.

Paid training and preparation period

Work begins in Ontario in mid to late May supporting a weekend cycling rally. There is a 3 week training and preparation period which is included in the paid term. Employees will then drive or travel to the start of the tour(s) and drive the vehicle from point to point on each daily stop. Work involves transporting luggage, company equipment, and for some positions preparing meals, checking in and out of accommodations, shopping and other duties. Employees generally work in teams of 2 with some additional support at times during the summer.

Velo 1

Most positions are for 16 weeks

Most positions are for 16 weeks finishing late August or early September. We may have be some shorter term positions as well.

Requirements of Candidates

Successful candidates will be required to provide reports on their driving and insurance record and three references. Positions are open to Canadian citizens or residents with valid work visas.

Knowledge of a second language, particularly a comfort level with the French language, is helpful.

We look for mature independent individuals to work for us. Since our positions require a variety of skills, in reviewing resumes we consider all work experience, volunteer activities, clubs and sports

Do you Have the following qualifications?

  • Class G (or equivalent for other provinces) driver's licence.
  • Are you insurable - shortlisted candidates will be required to provide a three year history of any claims as well as a driver's abstract.
  • For some positions laws require that you must be over 21 years of age - please let us know if you are under 21 — this won't disqualify you from some of our positions.
  • Excellent driving and navigation skills.
  • Experience driving a cube van, 5 tonne truck or van and trailer or similar large vehicle
  • Enjoys outdoor living (accommodation for most positions is mostly camping)
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • There is lifting and other physical effort involved.
  • Diligent record keeping and reporting skills.
  • All positions involve some food preparation and food purchasing skills.
  • Food handling courses an asset
  • Courses in health and safety such as CPR are an asset.
  • Wilderness training or experience for one position
  • A desire to see and travel throughout Canada

We hire for the positions listed below. Each year employees return to work for us and not all positions are open. When you apply please let us know which of the positions are of interest.

Driver and Breakfast Cook

  • Excellent driving and navigation skills.
  • Experience driving a cube van, 5 tonne truck or van and trailer or similar large vehicle
  • Breakfast preparation and food purchasing for groups of 15 to 20 cyclists in a campground setting

Dinner Cook and Support Driver

  • Excellent cooking skills.
  • Dinner preparation and food purchasing for groups of 15 to 20 cyclists in a campground setting
  • Ability to drive a cube van, 5 tonne truck or van and trailer or similar large vehicle as support driver

Driver and Logistics

  • Excellent driving and navigation skills.
  • Experience driving a cube van, van and trailer or similar large vehicle
  • Food purchasing and inventory management for group of up to 25 cyclists.
Cycle Canada staff

Driver and Tour Manager

  • Excellent driving and navigation skills.
  • Experience driving a cube van or 3/4 tonne truck
  • Bike Mechanic skills, cycling knowledge and skills
