Velo 1We are looking for up to 7 individuals to assist us with our tours in 2012. The successful candidates will assist with our 2012 schedule of cycling events in Canada. You will be supporting bicycle tour groups that travel throughout Canada.

Work begins in Ontario supporting a weekend cycling rally. After this, there is a 3 week training and preparation period which is included in the paid term. Employees will then drive or travel to the start of the tour(s) and drive the vehicle from point to point on each daily stop. You will be transporting luggage, company equipment, for some positions preparing meals, checking in and out of accommodations, shopping and other duties. Employees generally work in teams of 2 with some additional support at times during the summer.

shopping for TdCMost positions are for 16 weeks and start mid to end May 2012 finishing late August or early September.

We may have be some shorter term positions as well.

  • All positions involve driving larger vehicles such as cube van, panel van and trailer or 5 tonne truck.

  • Two positions specifically require outstanding cooking skills, where employee prepares meals for cyclists in an outdoor kitchen/galley.

  • All other positions involve some food preparation, inventory management, provisioning.

  • There is lifting and other physical effort involved.

Successful candidates will be required to provide report(s) on their driving and insurance record and three references. Positions are open to Canadian citizens or residents with valid work visas.

Knowledge of a second language, particularly a comfort level with the French language, is helpful.

Do you fit the following qualifications?

We look for mature independent individuals to work for us. Since our positions require a variety of skills, in reviewing resumes we look consdier all work experience, volunteer activities, clubs and sports

  • Class G (or equivalent for other provinces) driver's licence.

  • Must be insurable - shortlisted candidates will be required to provide a three year history of any claims as well as a driver's abstract

  • Excellent driving and navigation skills.

  • Experience (or ability to learn) driving a cube van, 5 tonne truck or van and trailer or similar large vehicle

  • Enjoys outdoor living (accommodation for most positions is mostly camping)

  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • All positions involve some food preparation and food purchasing skills, for some positons the focus is primarily cooking for groups of 15 to 20 cyclists

  • Food handling courses an asset

  • Courses in health and safety such as CPR are an asset.

  • For some positions basic bike mechanic skills will be considered an asset.

  • A desire to see and travel throughout Canada
